The Studio

The Studio has been open since 2008 when it underwent a £640,000 refurbishment. Originally the Dominion’s Circle Lounge the Studio’s entrance way retains its ornate plasterwork which has been expertly restored, and the main Studio area is sympathetic and modern in style with a solid oak sprung floor and state of the art internally wired lighting and sound system. The Studio is supplied with plenty of power so there is the opportunity to fill the room with fantastical lighting and sound – including live band or DJs. It is fully air conditioned and ventilated with 3 windows at the far end which let in natural light in the daytime.

Fitted along one side with ceiling to floor mirrors for dance rehearsals the Studio also has a curtain which runs around the edge of the room covering the mirrors and/or windows and creating a black out. This makes the space very flexible. To add to this flexibility there are various options for lighting the space. The room is fitted with fluorescent lighting, and also halogen downlighters which are on a user operated dimmer system. There are also two centre LED lighting panels in the ceiling which can colour wash the room, or create moving lights for more of a disco feel. We can also have your company logo or a message created into a gobo to shine onto the Studio floor. Of course we can also use the lighting bars themselves which have 48 dimmers and we can light the room to your specifications.

Around the room there are 4 facilities panels which allow versatility of space making the configuration of sound desk, live band or DJ flexible. For more information on the technical specifications of the Studio and what it can do for your event contact us by phone (0207 927 0941). The Studio has a capacity of up to 200 and has its own private facilities.

The Main Auditorium

The Dominion Theatre’s main auditorium seats 2,069 on two levels plus 100 standing. The Stalls level alone seats 1276. Built in 1929 the theatre was one of the first to use the advances in building materials to create a pillar-less auditorium – the consequence of this is that every seat in the house has a good clear view of the stage. The auditorium is currently home to We Will Rock You with its rock ‘n’ roll lighting and sound rig, and large video screens. The main auditorium is available for daytime conferences, lectures, press launches and award ceremonies.

The Gallery

The Gallery space is located in the former upper circle of the theatre. A modern space, with its own entrance on to Great Russell Street, it can be used in the daytime completely separately to the theatre and its other spaces.

Ideal for conferences, training sessions, meetings and award luncheons. The Gallery also has two smaller break out rooms adjacent to the main room which can be made available on request. The Gallery main room is fitted with air conditioning and also has private facilities. It is accessed via a lift from the first floor or staircase to the 4th floor.

 The Judy Garland Suite

The Judy Garland Suite is located on the Circle Level. Named after the Hollywood legend whose live The Judy Garland Show was resident at the Dominion in 1957, the suite has a number of pictures of the star and her daughter Liza Minnelli. Beautifully decorated with original art deco plasterwork the suite is furnished with red leather chesterfields and arm chairs.

Perfect for entertaining guests pre-show and during the interval the suite can accommodate approximately 12 for private dining, up to 30 for a finger buffet and up to 35 for a drinks reception. The room is also ideal for daytime business meetings and has natural daylight.

The Chaplin Room

The Chaplin Room is located on the Circle level. Named after the great Charlie Chaplin who premiered his 'City Lights' film at the Dominion, when he appeared personally on stage in front of an audience containing some of the eras biggest stars (including playwright George Bernard-Shaw - there is a picture of the pair together in the theatre's circle at the Premiere on the wall). Chaplin also had his own private viewing cinema at the Dominion.

The Chaplin Room is perfect for private dining for up to 50 guests or a drinks reception for up to 75. The Chaplin Room is located at the end of the Circle Foyer and can be linked to a roped area in the Circle Foyer to accommodate more guests for a reception. Conferences in the Gallery and the Studio can also choose to have lunch in the Chaplin Room.

The Circle Foyer

A large space with a capacity of around 200 the Circle Foyer is decorated with original plasterwork and art deco chandaliers. The Circle Foyer’s walls are currently adorned with the Freddy Mercury photo exhibition.

Perfect as a break out area for lunch during the day, the foyer is also available for press launches and drinks receptions. A roped area can be created to expand the capacity of the Chaplin Room which is adjacent to the Circle Foyer. The Foyer itself also has 2 bars and a cloakroom.

 The Milburn Suite

Named after the architect brothers who designed the Dominion Theatre the Milburn Suite is located on the Stalls level and has private en suite facilities. The Milburn can accommodate up to 20 people for a reception and is very popular for pre-show and interval hire.

 The Boardroom

Refurbished in 2011 the Boardroom is a state of the art meeting room for up to 28 boardroom style or 22 u-shaped, with in built AV facilities and benefits from plenty of natural daylight and also its own private break area with toilets. With all inclusive DDRs from £59.95+VAT it is the most competitive space of its standard in central London.
